Quote for the day:
Regard your good name as the richest jewel you can possibly be possessed of - for credit is like fire; when once you have kindled it you may easily preserve it, but if you once extinguish it, you will find it an arduous task to rekindle it again. The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear.

Nobody has things just as he would like them. The thing to do is to make a success with what material I have. It is a sheer waste of time and soulpower to imagine what I would do if things were different. They are not different.

My message this morning comes in slideshow format.
I photographed this young lady dancing at a Wedding in January.

I think the dance and the music accompanying it will give you a little inspiration this morning.
Enjoy ....and...Have A Blessed Day

Quote for the day:

Never continue in a job you don’t enjoy. If you’re happy in what you’re doing, you’ll like yourself, you’ll have inner peace. And if you have that, along with physical health, you will have had more success than you could possibly have imagined.”

Inauguration Stories

Hello World,

Here is another installment of my Inauguration Stories Series.

When i first mapped out my trip to the Inauguration, I was determined not to ride the Metro.
I read article after article about how crowded the metro would be, and how you might miss several trains because of overcrowding.
I decided to either take my bike on the bus to D.C. or rent a bike there.
I had already made my reservation to have my bike parked at a bike valet station outside the perimeter of the Inauguration.

Well, I decided not to take my bike or rent one, and I would give The Metro a chance.
Fortunately, before i left home, I already had that mapped out also.
I stayed at my Aunt Virginia's house in NW Washington DC
Her house was only 5 stops from where the bus dropped me off in Chinatown.

There was a HUGE crowd in the area where the bus dropped me off.
There were news reporters interviewing people all over the place.

I had a little trouble with the machine where I bought a commemorative Metro card (photo above)
Once i got my card ...I was rolling....
The trains were not very crowded (remember it was the day before The Inauguration)
It only took about 15 minutes to get to my Aunt's stop.

Instead of walking, I caught a cab for $5 to her house.
She was upset that I didn't call her so someone could pick me up ( I didn't want to rely on a ride or have anyone go out of the way for me)

I must say...the Metro in D.C. is pretty easy to learn.
There are only about 4 different colored lines.

As you all may know, I had a photography job at The Smithsonian Museum of African Art on that Monday night, so I had to take the Metro to the event.

Unfortunately when the event was over at about 11:30 that night, the metro stop was closed because of it's proximity to The Inauguration.
Some guys on the street tried to get me to walk to another station at L'Enfant Plaza, but it was VERY dark down that street, and my Newark Street Smarts told me HELL NO!!!!! Don't go that way.

So i caught a cab, but the driver wasn't too sure where my aunt's house was, and i was no help because we had a great conversation, but I nodded off on him.
Before i nodded, I noticed the sign in the cab that said he could not charge me more than $19 within D.C. limits.
He got me there , and i gave him a dollar tip(cheapo)

Stay tuned for part 2 of The Metro

Let Your Light Shine

If you look at my photo above, you will see that my uniform is wet, and of course it is snowing outside.

Is that any reason to be sad or upset?

I had a woman today say to me that I must be happy with my job.
"You are the only Mailman I have ever seen who looks like he is happy with his job"

All I could do was smile....

It is great to be appreciated...
But it is Greater to do your normal routine and people notice it to be something BIG.

I am not bragging on myself...
I am just Blessed and Thankful to God for letting my little light shine.

Peace
