Hello World

Wanda Sleep

waiting at Miami Int. for our Plane

Hey World,

Day 7 photos will be up when we get home.

We had a GREAT CRUISE, and now I guess we have to get mentally ready for the RAT RACE again.
Should be arriving home at about 6pm, and then I have to catch up with some loose ends that I left at home ( placing images online)

Tomorrow we have the BREAST CANCER WALK in Newark.
It will be 10 years for us (Cancer free for 9 years...Thank GOD)

I also have a Wedding to shoot tomorrow afternoon....ugghh!!!

After leaving the ship, and finally getting some REAL NEWS from my cell phone, I found out that I lost a FRIEND in an AUTO ACCIDENT.
I am STILL at a LOST for WORDS...

My PRAYERS go out to the FAMILY and FRIENDS of Lakeisha Odom.

We SANG in the E.T. Byrd Inspirational Ensemble.
We were a FAMILY in that GROUP.

Although we have not been together for a few years, we ALL keep in TOUCH through FACEBOOK.

KEISHA always sent me e-mails, letting me know when things were going on with the GROUP and CHURCH.

Cruise...Day 6

Good Morning World...
Thank GOD for another day

We are winding down this FANTASTIC CRUISE.
Yesterday was a LAZY day.

We were at sea all day, and just RELAXED.
I entered a Talent Show for tonight.
I will be singing "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.

We had a GREAT MEAL of SEAFOOD last night for dinner.

We checked out a show and then went to one of the LOUNGES for a TOGA PARTY.

We called it a NIGHT at about 2am.

Good Morning World...
Thank GOD for another day. 5
This vacation is flyin, but we are gonna suck up and enjoy every
minute of it.

We docked in Tortola, British Virgin Islands at 7am
Of course I was up at 6 to greet the sun...this time at the back of the ship.
As I looked around the Island from the deck of the ship, I just soaked up all the BEAUTY of this Island.

We went to breakfast at about 8, and by 9:30 we were walking off the ship to do some sightseeing.

We found a scooter rental shop that was renting scooters for $20 an hour.
"Not a bad deal"

Who cares about the HISTORY of the island right now!!!
I just want to SEE it!!!
I can READ about it ONLINE when I get home.

So I do the paperwork, and we pay the guy $20 for the hour.
He SHOWS and GIVES us a MAP of some of the MUST SEE places on the Island, so we could SEE it ALL ( I knew his ROUTE would take us LONGER than an HOUR...Newark Street Smart Moment #1...LOL)
We were prepared to give up another $20 for an additional HOUR.
STILL a GREAT deal!!!

Wanda was a little nervous at first because a couple had just came back while we were doing our paperwork, and the womans ARM was RED and SCRATCHED UP.
She crashed her scooter and FELL.
At least that made Wanda think TWICE before thinkin she would get her own SCOOTER...LOL.
She STILL wasn't too CRAZY about ridin with me, but got COMFORTABLE once we got into the RIDE.

We rode the WATERFRONT for 1 1/2 hours, drivin on the LEFT side of the ROAD.
We got back UNHARMED...Thank God, and turned in the scooter.

We then supported some of the LOCAL VENDORS and made our way back on the ship to lay on the TOP DECK to READ...LISTEN TO IPODS..and EAT!!!!

That evening we went to a show (BORING), and ATE, and then went to our STATEROOM to wait for a SHOW at 11:30.

Cruise ...Day 4

Good Morning World...
Thank GOD for another day.

I was a little late catching the sunrise, and just like yesterday, my new friend, Ms. Gail was there to also greet the sun.

Wanda and I moved around kinda slow this morning.
The ship was ready to unload people to shore in St. Thomas at 9am.
We didn't leave the ship till about noon.

There were many tours available, but after waiting about 10 minutes for a taxi Downtown , we decided to walk to the mall across the street from where the ship was docked.

A woman tried to convince us that Downtown had much better shopping.
We were satisfied with the variety of shops where we were, so we walked into several shops for a few things.

While looking for an ATM, I approached a gentleman to ask a few questions.
Who would have known that he was looking for 2 additional passengers to take a tour of the island for ONLY $20 each .

We took advantage of this and jumped in the open air truck for the tour.
It was VERY informative...we made 4 very scenic was 2 hours long....we took GREAT pictures.....and most IMPORTANT, we saved $30 because the other similar tours were charging $50

He dropped us off at the ship at 4:30 and we showered and got dressed for the evening.
We ate...I did karaoke again....we went to a show (I fell asleep...LOL)....watched a piano player in the lounge....went back to our stateroom to change for the DECK PARTY.....BUT.............
We both FELL ASLEEP!!!!!

Stay tuned for tomorrows UPDATE.

Cruise, 3

Sunrise and Sunset PhotosByDAdamsJr

Good Morning World...
Thank GOD for another day.

Today started at 6am for me.
I wanted to watch the sunrise, at the top of the ship.
While there, I met a very nice woman (my moms age) originally from Jersey, but now lives in Florida.
We had a very lenghthy conversation.

By the time I got back to the Stateroom, it was 8:30 am
I planned to do a mile around the jogging track, but that didn't happen.
Wanda and I were pretty excited about going ashore in Samana, Dominican Republic.
We ate breakfast, and then stood in line to get our numbers to get on the smaller boats to take us to the island.

Samana does not have a DEVELOPED PORT yet, so we had to get off the ship, onto a smaller boat (the boats that hang on the ship, and are used for emergencies)
We didn't purchase any on shore tours from the ship, so when we got to the island (20 minutes by boat from the ship) , I saw a Dominican guy with a photo album soliciting people to go on tours.
We walked up to him and looked in the album, and decided we wanted to go to the waterfalls.
Talking to him in Spanish, I asked him "how much?"
He said $60 for the both of us there and back.
That was not a bad deal, although later on i thought to myself " I could have talked down the price"
So I told him I needed some cash.
He called over a guy on a motorcycle with a 4 seat contraption attached to the rear.
He said the guy would take us to the ATM, which was about an 8 minute ride, and bring us back for the tour ( this was all included in the $60)
My Newark Street Smarts started kicking in....LOL.
As we got on the seat, I just noticed ALOT of people bustling around this area trying to make all sorts of deals....and they ALL looked like ME (same color....Newark Street Smart Moment #2...LOL)

While riding to the bank, there were people on the sides of the roads selling fruits, and then I noticed a motorcycle speeding up to our left with 2 guys on it.
One of the guys looked over with a sneaky grin and then they slowed down to get behind us (Newark Street smart Moment #3)

We got to the bank and I started pulling out my ATM card to put in the machine.
There was a guy standing therewho told me in Spanish that the ATM would not give me American money, so I would have to go inside the bank.
I said "gracias mi hermano" (thank you brother), and proceeded inside the bank.
The bank was PACKED, and the security guard gave me a number to see a clerk.
Thats when EVERYTHING came to me at the same time.(Newark Street Smart Moment #4)
I looked at Wanda and said...."I'm not feelin this".
She said OKAY ( stand by your man)
We walked out and I asked the driver how much it would be to take us back without the tour?
He said "vente pesos' ($20)
I said "ni lo intentas" (don't even try it)
(Newark Street Smart Moment #5)
We agreed on $10, even though i thought that was STILL too much for an 8 minute ride, but I paid him...LOL.
We showed our ID's and went back to the ship.

We ate, and then i enjoyed reading my book on New Orleans and listening to the ipod on the top deck of the ship.
Wanda did the same in the sunny section of the top deck (too much sun for me)
After a few hours, we ate again and got ready for the nights events.
I entered a contest in one of the lounges where the contestants had to name a song that the band was playing, and then sing the words to that song.
We had a BALL, as Wanda coached me from the side.
I won second place, but everyone there said i was really the winner.
I sang ALL the words to New York, New York by Frank Sinatra, and TURNED IT OUT!!!
We also checked out a jugglers show in the big theatre....ate again, and i did Karaoke (everyone wanted to do duets with me...even the guys...CRAZY!!!)

We capped off the night with some Buffalo Wings at about 12:30 in the morning.
Stay tuned for tomorrows UPDATES and...BE BLESSED!!!!

Good Morning World...
Thank GOD for another day.

Day 2 on this cruise started with me getting up at 6am to watch the sunrise at 7am (photo above)

I had on my running sneakers, so I could do a mile on the track, but decided to start that THIS MORNING (we will see tomorrow)

We ATE, and then Wanda laid on the deck all day to soak up some sun.
I KEEP on telling her that it is NO GOOD to lay in the sun all day.
It is not good for the skin.

While she was on deck , i waited for an iron to be delivered so I could iron my clothes ( yes...I am a Military Man...I wash and iron my own clothes)

After ironing ,I wandered all over the ship and ATE again.
We both wound up in the cabin to sleep for a few hours before the shows began.

I did karaoke, then we went to a comedy show, and then we ATE DINNER.
We both had lobster tails and steak (VERY GOOD).
We capped off the night with a visit to a dance club, so I could have a glass of PORT WINE.

I was gonna type this last night , but......we fell ASLEEP.

Stay tuned for Day 3
Be Blessed!!!

The Cruise...Day 1

Good Morning World...
Thank GOD for another day.

Well.... we are finally on this much anticipated cruise.
We are on the Norwegian Pearl headed to Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, and The Bahamas.

We landed in Miami to 91 degree weather yesterday morning (I already had my shorts on).

We got to the ship terminal, and stood on line behind a group of 4 couples from New York.
The guy right in front of me and I had quite a bit in COMMON.

We are both Air Force Veterans, we are both Letter Carriers (he is retired now), and we both had the same name brand carry on bags.
We got into some LIVELY discussion about the Postal Service and The Air Force.
Shout out to Frank and his crew from New York.

As always, Wanda has everything planned out for the whole day, every day (i thought she said i was gonna get some rest...LOL)

We ATE....then we ATE....then we Ate...then we went to a show.
I fell asleep at the show, then we Ate again.

We capped off the night with a visit to one of the night clubs and tucked in at about 1am.

You can check out images from day 1... HERE
